Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center Supports Hundreds of Families with Thanksgiving Meal Kits

NEW YORK, NY — In direct response to recent interruptions in federal SNAP benefits and the growing food insecurity affecting families across Southeast Queens and Red Hook, Brooklyn, the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center (JPAFHC) hosted its Gobble for Good Health Family Thanksgiving Pop-Up Event on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, providing essential holiday support and health resources to local families.

Held simultaneously across all JPAFHC healthcare facilities, the initiative supported local families by distributing Thanksgiving meal kits complete with turkeys and trimmings generously donated by the Hispanic Federation. In addition to food distribution, JPAFHC connected attendees with healthcare navigation services, health education, and community resource information to help address the broader social determinants that impact overall well-being.

“When families face uncertainty, especially during the holidays, community health centers have a responsibility to step in—not just as care providers, but as community pillars,” said Renee Hastick-Motes, MPA, Chief Executive Officer of JPAFHC. “Gobble for Good Health represents who we are at our core, a trusted resource, a source of stability, and a place where no family feels unseen or unsupported.”
