Queens, NY – Earlier today, Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center (JPAFHC), in partnership with The Campaign Against Hunger, officially launched the Fresh Vibes Mobile Farmer’s Market—a dynamic new initiative aimed at increasing access to affordable, nutritious, and culturally relevant produce across underserved communities in Brooklyn and Queens. The kickoff event occurred at JPAFHC’s Sutphin Boulevard site in Jamaica, Queens, where community members, staff, and local partners gathered to mark the beginning of this effort to merge food access with preventive care. The mobile market will bring fresh produce directly into neighborhoods that often lack consistent access to healthy food options.
“At The Campaign Against Hunger, we believe that food is foundational to health and healing,” said Dr. Melony Samuels, Founder & CEO of The Campaign Against Hunger. “Through our Fresh Vibes Mobile Farmers Market, we are proud to partner with Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center to bring fresh, nutritious, and culturally relevant produce directly to communities that need it most. This collaboration affirms our shared commitment to treating food as medicine and ensuring that all New Yorkers—regardless of zip code—have the opportunity to thrive.”
Patients who complete their annual physicals and preventive health screenings at JPAFHC will receive a $25 Fresh Vibes voucher, redeemable at the mobile market. The incentive is part of the center’s broader mission to address social determinants of health through community-driven, wellness-centered programs.
“We’re thrilled to partner with The Campaign Against Hunger to bring the Fresh Vibes Mobile Farmer’s Market to our neighborhoods,” said Renee Hastick-Motes, CEO of JPAFHC. “This initiative beautifully demonstrates how health care and community organizations can work together to address food insecurity, promote wellness, and empower families to make healthy choices.”
The program emphasizes nutrition’s critical role in preventing chronic illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, and certain cancers. By integrating access to fresh food with routine health care, the initiative supports both immediate dietary needs and long-term community health outcomes.
