Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, Inc. is a Federally Qualified Health Center. Our patients are treated with respect, dignity, empathy and compassion, which encourages the development of strong, trusting relationships between patients and their providers.

Our History

Founded in 1981 as a free pediatric health center, The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, Inc. was officially incorporated in 1987, honoring Rep. Joseph P. Addabbo, Sr., a tireless advocate for affordable healthcare. For over 30 years, we have continued his legacy, overcoming barriers and improving healthcare access for individuals and families in our community. We now operate five health centers across the Rockaway Peninsula, Southeast Queens, and Red Hook, Brooklyn, providing a full range of high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective healthcare services.

Our mission is to be the leading provider of preventive and comprehensive primary healthcare in New York.

Building a Healthy Community

Renee Hastick-Motes, MPA
Chief Executive Officer

Renee Hastick-Motes is the Chief Executive Officer of The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving communities across five (5) locations in Southeast Queens and Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York. A mission driven executive leader, she brings deep expertise in healthcare administration, financial stewardship, and public health strategy to ensure access to high quality and equitable care for underserved populations.

As CEO, Ms. Hastick-Motes has demonstrated a strong ability to create and sustain financial stability within the complex regulatory and reimbursement environment facing safety-net organizations. Her leadership focuses on strengthening organizational infrastructure, diversifying revenue streams, optimizing operational performance, aligning resources to support long-term sustainability while maintaining the Health Center’s mission and compliance with federal and state requirements.

Ms. Hastick-Motes is recognized for her strategic leadership and guiding organizational growth through data driven decision-making, workforce development, and cross functional collaborations. She has successfully led initiatives that enhance patient access, and support a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

A committed advocate for health equity, Ms. Hastick-Motes actively engages in policy, government, and community partnerships to advance equitable healthcare delivery. She works closely with local, state, and federal stakeholders to address social determinants of health, reduce disparities and ensure that patients regardless of income, insurance status or background receive compassionate, comprehensive, and culturally responsive care.

Through her leadership, Renee Hastick-Motes continues to position the health center as a trusted community anchor and a strong voice in advancing healthcare access, equity, and sustainability across New York City.

Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, Inc. is a private, freestanding, nonprofit 501(c)(3) Diagnostic and Treatment Center (DT&C) authorized to deliver health and medical services pursuant to Article 28 of the New York State Public Health Law.

FTCA Deemed Organization. The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center is granted medical malpractice protection through the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA). The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center receives HHS funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals. Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, Inc., a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center, is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of a diverse and representative group of patients and community leaders who donate their time and talent to further the mission of the Health Center.

Camille Eaddy
Board Member

With more than 33 years of experience in education and leadership, Ms. Eaddy combines her expertise as a dynamic teacher, coach and school-based district staff with her skills as a United Federation of Teachers (UFT) District 16 Brooklyn representative. A dedicated advocate for students and teachers alike, she is also president of the National American Federation of Teachers Black Caucus.

Dianne Moore
Board Member

Ms. Moore has been a member of the Board of Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, Inc. for 25 years and has been involved in its incredible growth and expansion throughout the years. Using her experience as an executive board member of the SEIU Local 144 and Local 1199 and her longstanding involvement and activism in the Rockaway community, Ms. Moore has proudly championed the cause of quality healthcare services for those who need it most. Although she is most proud of her association with the Peninsula Coalition for Positive Change, her many years of employment at Rockaway’s Lawrence Nursing Care Center as its admissions director, Medicaid coordinator and community liaison make her a very valuable member of the Addabbo Board.

Sylvester Okonkwo
Board Member

Mr. Okonkwo has amassed an extensive financial portfolio in the nonprofit sector bringing valuable financial experience to the Addabbo Board of Directors. He has a history of helping compile reports for regulatory agencies, proposal writing for government funding and providing expertise on special projects. A PhD in finance, Mr. Okonkwo is director of personnel at Urban Strategies, Inc., where he is responsible for implementing policies and procedures.

Walter Sanchez
Board Member

Mr. Sanchez joins the Addabbo Board with vast experience in the world of business and publishing. Since 1986, he has been publisher of The Queens Ledger/Greenpoint Star News group, which publishes eight legacy community newspapers and dozens of hyper-local news websites throughout Queens and Brooklyn. He also publishes the monthly magazine for the Queens Chamber of Commerce and the monthly newspaper for the Queens County Bar Association. He currently serves on the board of directors of the New York Press Association, The Rufus King Manor and the Greenpoint YMCA, and he sits on the endowment committee of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Maspeth, Queens.
Mr. Sanchez is currently president of the Variety Boys Club of Queens and a member of Community Board #5, Queens. Walter Sanchez and his family officially joined the Rockaway community as new owners of The Wave News Organization, a weekly publication covering the Rockaways since 1893.

Jason Pierre
Board Member

A belief that great healthcare and education is the best foundation for a community led Mr. Pierre to the Addabbo Board of Directors. In addition to his connection to the Rockaways, he brings dependable, professional supervisory and communication skills in the areas of financial management, budgeting, human resources, payroll support, compliance and general operations skills to bear as a member of the Board.

Betty A. Leon RN, MA, Esq.
Board Chair

Betty Leon is the Board Chair of the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, Inc. Board of Directors. An attorney and registered nurse, Ms. Leon brings more than 40 years of experience as a passionate community advocate and leader with expertise in educational, clinical and legal settings. Among her many leadership positions as a volunteer and activist, she serves as the Democratic State Committee person for the 31st Assembly District, judicial delegate for Queens County Democratic Club, member of the Executive Board (Secretary) for Community Board 14 Queens, member of NYU Alumni, member of CUNY Alumni, president of the Brooklyn Independent Democratic Club,chair of By-laws / Membership / Commemorative Committee: Community Board 14Q and Chair of Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School.

Nancy Martinez
1st Vice Chair

Nancy Martinez, a longtime resident of the Rockaways in Queens, is a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist, and healthcare industry expert. After a family tragedy shaped her passion for helping others, she founded the New York Career Training School, LLC in 2010, offering courses in multiple languages to students from over 25 countries. The school has graduated more than 24,000 students with a 98% employment rate. She also founded the Rockaway Adult Social Center in tribute to seniors who supported her. In 2017, she was elected to the Board of Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center. Nancy has received numerous awards, including the Queens Power Women in Business Award and recognition from the New York State Senate, for her dedication to her community and humanitarian efforts.

Wendy Lawrence
2nd Vice Chair

Ms. Lawrence is a dedicated and devoted caretaker as a nurse. She has served the Rockaways by caring for the elderly and infirm while pursuing her education. As a resident of the Rockaway Peninsula, Ms. Lawrence is keenly aware of the need for and the importance of serving the medical needs of the greater Rockaway population.

Leonor Reina
Treasurer

Leonor Reina is Board Member of the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, Inc. Board of Directors. As associate director for the Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation, Ms. Reina brings more than 10 years of expertise in operations management and strategic thinking to the Addabbo Board. She uses her global experience to help the health center analyze revenue trends at each site and determines investments for building expansions. Ms. Reina received her BA in business and finance from York College, earned a master’s degree in finance from Baruch College and a master’s degree in accounting from Brooklyn College. In her spare time, Ms. Reina provides pro bono tax services to low- and moderate-income families, the elderly and disabled people.

Glenn Greenidge
Secretary

As Secretary, Glenn Greenidge brings a wealth of business management experience to The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, Inc. Board of Directors. In addition to his interest in providing entrepreneurs and small and medium business owners with the tools to succeed, Mr. Greenidge has worked as a consultant, providing marketing analysis for more than 30 years. He co-founded People of African Descent Empowerment Group to further promote education and leadership training. Mr. Greenidge also developed a youth leadership training program for the African Community Center for Empowerment and is the Executive Director of the Sutphin Boulevard Business Improvement District.
