Wesley Tahsir-Rodriguez joins the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center with 18 years of experience in public health. He most recently served as a member of the New York regional office for HRSA’s National Health Service (NHSC) program where he worked to support the recruitment and retention of healthcare providers where they are needed most: Federally Qualified Health Centers. He has assumed the position of Executive Vice President, Operations, at Addabbo.
Prior to returning home to his native New Jersey, Tahsir-Rodriguez worked at HRSA’s headquarters in Rockville, MD for the HIV/AIDS Bureau, where he focused on the Ryan White Program and the Affordable Care Act. Prior to his federal service, Tahsir-Rodriguez’ experience included time as Senior Health Policy Manager at the National Minority AIDS Council, a national advocacy organization based in Washington, DC, Community Health Initiatives Manager at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan, Technical Assistance Manager for HIV Care Services within the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Assistant Director for Health Planning and Ryan White Part A Director/HOPWA Director for the Newark, NJ EMA and Director of Health Policy/Advocacy/National Latino AIDS Awareness Day at the Latino Commission on AIDS. It is there that he met and worked closely with Dr. Vega.
Tahsir-Rodriguez received his undergraduate degree in American Studies from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Public Health Policy and Administration from the Rutgers University School of Public Health. He pursued public health because of his interest in striving to achieve health equity for everyone, regardless of where they came from, language they speak, or their ability to pay for what is a human right.
Wesley currently lives in North Jersey with his wife and young daughter. He has many interests outside of work, but especially enjoys spending time in the kitchen cooking with his family, traveling and on the baseball field.
