Asthma & Allergy Care

Asthma and Allergies can affect anyone at any age. Our allergist is specially trained to diagnose and treat adults and children with asthma, allergies, and problems of the immune system.  Allergies may be caused by pollens, molds, dust, animal dander, indoor allergens, foods, medications, insect stings, and many other allergens in the environment. An allergic reaction can occur anywhere in the body.

Allergic rhinitis (“hay fever”) is a term used to describe a reaction in the nose, causing sneezing, congestion, runny nose and itching of the throat and eyes. Asthma occurs when the breathing tubes (bronchi) of the lungs become inflamed, causing cough, wheezing or chest tightness. Asthma symptoms may be mild or severe. Many allergies affect the skin: eczema, hives, poison ivy, and other skin problems. Anaphylaxis is a rare, severe allergic reaction that can affect many parts of the body at the same time.

Asthma and allergies may interfere with school, work or your quality of life. Management of asthma and other allergic conditions starts with an examination by an allergist, which may include allergy testing and a breathing test. Our allergist can provide an Asthma or Allergy Action Plan, recommendations on allergen avoidance, proper medication, cooperation with your school nurse and referrals. We offer treatment with the most up-to-date biological medications and allergy immunotherapy (“allergy shots”) when appropriate.

We welcome patients from Brooklyn, Jamaica, Queens, Far Rockaway, Arverne, Red Hook, Rockaway, Inwood, Long Island and surrounding locations. Please call 718.945.7150 or use our online form to Make an appointment.
