New York Knows

New York Knows is the nation’s largest HIV testing initiative. It aims to help all New York City residents learn their HIV status and take full advantage of the City’s HIV care and prevention services. The New York Knows team at the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center actively seeks to accomplish the goals of New York Knows by

  • Providing a voluntary HIV test to everyone who has never been tested.
  • Making HIV testing a routine part of health care.
  • Identifying undiagnosed HIV-positive and link them to medical care.
  • Connecting at-risk people who test negative for HIV to prevention services, including Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis PrEP.
  • Participating in community outreach testing events

In May of 2019, at the 2019 All Partners Meeting, our team members had the opportunity to network with other agencies working to end the epidemic in NYC through an intersectionality lens. They also learned strategies in HIV prevention and care among priority populations and discussed unique partnerships to better help their own communities.

Team Members left to right: Jennifer Omoroghe-Akpata, Gregory Hermonstyne, Carla Lewis-Peter, Dr. Juan Battle, Christopher Cuellar and Marvin Anderson.
