July, 2019 Jointly sponsored by Out Rockaway, a local community LGBTQ organization, and the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center on Beach Channel Drive in Arverne, Rockaway’s first LGBTQ Pride Celebration Block Party was a huge success. Many agencies and organizations offered numerous resources to the attendees.
“This is only the beginning,” said the Chief Executive Officer of the Health Center. “We want the LGBTQ community to know that Addabbo is here for them, ready and eager to provide the health care and services they need in a comfortable setting.”
Local residents and elected officials, NYS Attorney General Letitia James, NYS Assemblymember Stacey Pheffer Amato, NYC City Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer and NYC Councilmember Donovan Richards joined with the attendees dancing to the music of the DJ, taking advantage of the free health screenings, education, giveaways, food and refreshments – even enjoying the spray of a fire hydrant sprinkler on the hot day!
